The Strategic Thinking Working Groups have gathered input from the campus community since the beginning of March. From small informal conversations to large group meetings, the participation by the campus community has been both gratifying and illuminating:
  • Meetings with 190 faculty members across the four colleges
  • Meetings with the department chairs, dean of students, and associate dean of students
  • Meeting with Library Technology Services directors
  • Well over 50 small group meetings with various staff members
  • The two interactive campus-wide events in March were a resounding success, attracting a total of 220 attendees representing a broad cross-section of faculty and staff
  • The questions on the campus-wide blog (launched on March 11) have generated many additional comments
The Working Groups distilled the information into written reports. The first drafts of these documents were shared with the senior leadership and the council of deans on April 22. The documents can currently be viewed on the Strategic Thinking home page; we invite comments, suggestions, and ideas for revision. The final Working Group reports will be presented to President Gast on May 22.

Ultimately, the Working Group reports will provide the foundation of the strategic plan that President Gast is developing. We thank those who have already shared their ideas, and we invite everyone to take the time to read the first drafts of the reports.
